I am currently working with a Kinetic Imaging student, Bryce Castillo to create a digital gallery, OPEN DESIGN GALLERY. (we wanted to call it Open Source Gallery, but that was allready taken. I still think digi-gallery is cute, or digital millenium gallery) We created it in Rhino 3d, and we are asking for artists to show off 3d models and environments in our space. Our aim to create a space for works that may not be able to exist in physical space or life. We have a basic gallery design where works can be shown, but the space is completely open to customization for specific pieces. Users could take these spaces and experience them virtually or take the entire space and print them using rapid prototyping 3D printers to literally “own” the space.
I am working on the website, and am really excited to create this gallery space that exists mostly on the internet. Its like a space within a space. (but it also has this possibility of being printed out on the Rapid Prototype Printer.)
Our first show is a solo show for Keith Brown!! wooowww. The second show is probz going out to Bathsheeba Grossman. And I know we are giving a show to Eric McMaster at some point. This is all sort of hush hush until we get the website up.. But if anybody ANYBODY has any submissions of 3d designs, we would love to feature you! We prefer rhino-compatible data files such as .3dm or .stl . Polygons and Nurbs are ok. EMAIL : Palmerka2@vcu.edu
